Seikei and the Ghost pg. 32
  • AnthonyB July 2011
Passage-“The Shadow turned in his direction. Seikei saw its eyes flash in the light from the hallway. The creature’s white face looked down on Seikei. I stared at him for one second and then raised one arm. Seikei saw a small object in his hand, red and glowing like a fiery eye. The ghostly form waved the object toward him. To Seikei, it seemed like the spirit was trying to cast a spell on him.”

I chose this passage because it showed that even though Seikei was just a boy, he would risk his life and stand up to the monster like a samurai would. Furthermore, Seikei showed bravery by speaking up to Judge Ooka when he questioned if anybody saw anything suspicious during the night. Seikei knew that if the judge thought he was lying he would give him a very harsh punishment. Seikei spoke the truth at a risk, and luckily he was rewarded. The qualities that Seikei showed greatly impressed Judge Ooka, and will support his dream of becoming a samurai. AnthonyB

I liked how Seikei started to show growth at this moment then built up to when he was in front of the judge, solving the mystery of the thief, and finally when the thief was caught at the end.

I agree because it was very brave of Seikei to stand up to judge Ooka, instead of turning in his friend wrongly. Also, he kept his cool and was calm when he saw the ghost in the hallway. DeclanF

Yes, Seikei was mature and brave. He showed the will of a samurai. He could have just waited itn his room but he was brave about it. Diego C-S

Seikei was very brave when he followed the ghost into the hallway when the ghost floated in the ground. Seikei was also really brave for going into the underground tunnel to try to find the ghost when judge Ooka told him too.

Julia, I agree because he did not know where the ghost was and the ghost could have come out any second. The only reason he did this was because he wanted to be a samurai and always told himself how brave they were and how they do not have any fear of any place or any person.

Seikei is a very brave man, risking his life by following the ghost through the hallway. Once Seikei sees the ghost go into the hole Seikei tells Juge Ooka immediately and when Judge Ooka tells Seikei to go inside the hole Seikei does what he is told and risks his life to find the ghost.
