I'll take the case
  • natalieb August 2011
Mr. Hartlieb cleared his throat. “Mr. Getz. . . will you take the case on?”

Victor looked once more at the photograph of the two very different faces-the tall, serious boy and the carefree smile of the younger one. And then he nodded. “Yes, I’ll take it,” he said. “I will find them.”

This is an important passage because it describes how Mr. Getz, the detective will take on the challenge of finding Prosper and Bo in the many alleys and old abandoned shelters in Venice. When Mr. Getz is asked to take on this case, he really can not say no, this is the perfect opportunity to challenge himself to more than just looking for handbags and old things tourists have lost. It is his chance to do something that he is really good at, why waste it? He must work to his best of his ability to solve this case well. In the many challenges he finds, he eventually comes to like the children and takes their side.

I completely agree with Natalie. Mr. Getz finally gets to do something he's good at. And I actually like seeing how it turns out when he takes the kids side.
