Seikei In Front of the Judge pg. 43
  • MikeyK August 2011
"It wasn't her!" Seikei's voice rang out from behind Michiko. Everyone turned to looked at him. Even his father was staring. But Seikei had to tell the truth. He could not let the gir be tortured.

"I saw the theif," Seikei went on "It was a ghost, a jikininki. It had horns, and it opened the doorof our room. It was holding the jewel in its hand."

I chose this passage because Seikei shows courage and speaks up for Michiko and her father. I liked this because this were Seikei starts his journey with Judge Ooka and starts to show the qualities of a samurai.

I also like this passage because Seikei speaks up even though he felt embarrassed by Michiko earlier in the book. This shows that Seiki is loyal to other people and has bravery.

I like this passage because Sekei wasn't afraid of speaking up even though it might have gotten him in trouble. Sekei shows that he is not the regular child that would have kept quiet.
