People judge Amal because of her hijab
  • annabelg August 2011
"OK, now there are some people who are tactful. They see somebody they don't like and they bluff the encounter and go full throttle will the avoiding strategies. In a situation like this, there are plenty exits available to George. "The position has been filled," "We are looking for somebody older," "We don't like people who've worked in the mass consumer fast food industry." But George decides to go straight for the "say what's on your mind" route. "Sorry, love, we can't accept people like you." "What do you mean?" "The thing on your head, love, that's what I mean. It's not hygienic and it just don't look good up at the front of the shop. Sorry, love. Try somewhere else." pgs. 318-319

This quote is from when she was applying for a job at a restaurant and is turned down because of a symbol of her faith.
I think that it is wrong for people, including George, to judge Amal just because she is wearing her hijab. It's already hard for her as it is, making the decision to wear it in the first place, staying with her decision, praying at school, and trying to be treated the same as everyone else.

I agree it is wrong to judge a person because of their religion. Everyone should be treated the same. It was unfair that she didn't get the job because she wears the hijab.
