Follow the Correct Path, pg. 106
  • CostaA August 2011
"I'm staying with Judge Ooka," Seikei explained.
The man shook his head firmly. "the judge has departed. He left this for you." He held out a folded piece of paper, and Seikei opened it.
It read: "Follow the correct path."
Seikei stared at the paper, turning it over to see if it contained anything else. Nothing, not even the judge's name or seal.

I chose this passage because I feel that you should always go with what you think is right and not always go with other people's opinions; trust your instincts. In this part of the story I think that Judge Ooka is telling Seikei that he trusts him to follow the correct path and knows that he will. Judge Ooka wants him to have self confidence and have trust in himself.

I agree, Judge Ooka really believes that Seikei will take the right path and trusts he will do the right thing. Judge Ooka also made Seikei more responsible by making him go on his own.

I also agree, Judge Ooka thinks that Seikei is responsible enough to go on his own and follow the correct path. That helps Seikei build up more self confindence. -Mikey K

Even if Judge Ooka does think Seikei may take the correct path if left alone, the note may be a sort of reminder for him to stay away from the "Teahouses" and other shady places that he may have gone to seek out information. If he had gone to the said "shady places" he may have been either duped by another person who wanted something, or he might have gotten lost.
